our philosophy

Tom Peters founded Tom Peters Group in Palo Alto, California in 1984. Reuben Harris and a close group of associates worked with clients who were keen to implement the core ideas from In Search of Excellence. As the “excellence movement” spread into Europe and beyond, a TPG office was opened in London in 1986.

Jim Kouzes joined TPG in 1988 to chair the US based training division, and our signature Executive Skunk Camps, Excellence Audits and Creating Value for Customers implementations were supplemented by his Leadership Challenge™ Workshops.

The UK business was much boosted by the launch of Tom’s legendary “Skunk Camps” in 1989, a project that was championed by Madeleine McGrath and Richard King. Richard and Madeleine joined the UK business full time in 1991, and have built up a team that has a great understanding of how Tom’s ideas can be turned to practical use in organisations.

Boyd Clarke became CEO of the US business in 1997, moved the US head office to Cincinnati, and initiated a period of growth and change. In 1999, Tom and Boyd rebranded the business "Tom Peters Company" and three new methodologies, Wow! Projects, PSF, and Brand You were introduced based on Tom’s strategies for the coming white-collar revolution. In 2004, Juli Ann Reynolds took over the US business, and relocated it to Boston MA.

TPC now operates internationally from three centres; Boston, Manchester Vermont, and London. Under the leadership of Tom Peters, Juli Ann Reynolds, Madeleine McGrath and Richard King, we remain true to our heritage and serve clients who display that same passion for excellence that first emerged in the 80’s.
